About Us
Prepared Ventura was created out of necessity.
When wildfires swept across California, it became clear that many Ventura County residents weren’t ready for what could come next. Brett Hilton, a longtime member of this community, looked around and realized there was no local nonprofit focused on disaster preparedness. No clear path. No safety net. Just the growing sense that someone had to step in.
So he did.
Prepared Ventura exists to close the gap between emergencies and action.
We don’t wait for government agencies or the next crisis. We focus on practical tools and local solutions. Whether it’s clean water, solar-powered communications, or basic CERT awareness, our mission is to make preparedness simple, local, and human.
This is not about selling gear or promoting fear. It’s about helping people feel ready, calm, and connected. Neighbors helping neighbors. No gimmicks. No drama. Just the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ve thought ahead.
We believe everyone deserves to be prepared, especially those who are often overlooked: seniors, renters, low-income households, pet owners, and anyone who doesn’t know where to begin.
Prepared Ventura is a work in progress, but the mission is clear. We’re building something that belongs to the people who live here. Something built on kindness, action, and readiness.
If you’re in Ventura County and want to be part of this, you’re in the right place.
